About

Tap dance is a rhythmic style of dance that utilizes metal plates on tap shoes to strike the floor as a form of percussion.

Popularised in the mid nineteenth century, Tap is an African-American artform that evolved alongside the advent of Jazz music. Commonly featured in Musical Theatre, it emphasizes musicality, style, and fast footwork to create a variety of rhythms and sounds. Starting at age 5, students develop a strong sense of rhythm and tempo. As they progress, the possibilities expand, from unique patterns to impressive, show-stopping routines.

The Dance Studio offers a fabulous Competition Troupe Program for dedicated students looking to take their dance to the next level. Students attend weekly extension and choreography classes to prepare them for various competitions held throughout the year. We hold auditions for our troupe program annually and our students absolutely love having the chance to participate in extra stage performances. Dance competitions also offer extended time spent in the studio with like-minded dance friends who want to work to their full potential and improve each week in this accelerated program.
